In recent years, we have used this ETRO approach successfully to make taxi use permanent on the Bexhill Road bus lane in Hastings and the A259 bus lane through from Peacehaven to Brighton. Whilst there is no specific government policy on this, it is absolutely right that the Council is able to make the decision locally on whether taxis can use bus lanes on a case by case basis, taking account of the bus operation, safety and other road user implications of doing so.
