Questions the record answers
The questions people in Hastings keep asking, answered from the councils' own papers. Each answer is a passage quoted word for word, linked to its source.
How these are answered
Once a day each question below is put to Ask the record: an ordinary word search over every council paper we hold picks the closest passages, and a language model run by TypeSafe judges which of them directly answer the question. It chooses between the councils' words and never writes any of its own.
Then a person checks the answer before it appears here. When a newer
paper changes the answer, the new one waits to be checked, and the last
checked answer stays up meanwhile. The questions are fixed and published
in config/issues.yaml; changing one is a public edit with a
date.
