- p35Hastings Open – Hastings Open returns for 2026 between 3 October 2026 – 31 January 2027. Honouring Hastings deep artistic roots, the Hastings Open exhibition aspires to brings together a thoughtfully curated collection of original and exemplary artworks from across the Southeast. The exhibition, produced in partnership with the blackShed Gallery, aims to explore, challenge, and celebrate the diverse trials and triumphs of contemporary life— reflecting a wide array of artistic practices, expressions, and stories, and experiences. Artworks will be selected through an anonymous two-phased process by a panel of judges that includes Harold Offeh, Rory Prout, Naomi Salaman, and Charlotte Hailey-Watts. The winner of Hastings Open 2026 will be celebrated with a solo exhibition at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery in 2028/29. The museum will also consider the artist’s work for permanent acquisition. Young artists (16-25yrs) will also be considered for a paid traineeship, offering hands-on curatorial experience at both the museum and the blackShed gallery. A People’s Choice cash prize will also be awarded to the artwork that receives the most votes from visitors.
