What it does
1) The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship in the community of Hastings & St. Leonards for the public benefit through:A) The provision of a volunteer service to provide practical assistance, support and advice, transport, companionship/social interaction;B) Signposting to appropriate support organisations when required.
What its grants paid for
£324k from The National Lottery Community Fund: Helping hands – Building a Hub for all our community
£20k from Sussex Community Foundation
Funding was provided towards developing a Community Info Hub.
£110k from The National Lottery Community Fund: Building for the Future
Funding will be used to expand neighbourhood support services in Hastings and St.Leonards including shopping services a drop-in community hub and health champions in the community. The project aims to complement and support existing community services by addressing current gaps.
£7k from Sussex Community Foundation
Funding was provided towards Hastings Befriending Network including 'Chatty Cafes' and 'Chatty Benches' and core costs.
£50k from The National Lottery Community Fund: Hearts over Hastings
The organisation are using the funding to develop the town’s Mutual Aid community support service established at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic building it into a sustainable volunteer-led practical support advice and friendship service for isolated or vulnerable residents throughout Hastings and St. Leonards. The project will target vulnerable adults generally aged over 24 helping those isolated at home with vital practical help including shopping collecting medicines telephone befriending transport and online advice & information.
